Well said, Doctor Yard!
Some times we all think of goals we get in life.
One of them is to keep a lovely house.
Even living in a rent or a bought one it's our sweet home.
Many people like small cute apartments, others prefer houses with big flowery yards, some love villas houses full made in luxury. It's usual for someone to need just a place to live proud in, keeping the essentials, at the same time that other people need a balcony for sure to live in there almost the half of their yeartime.
Keep my secret? As my country gets hugged by the sun during 320 days annually I can't live without my balcony. I also adore yards full in plants and comfy sofas and floor cushions.
Cz I'm an original Mediterranean resident doesn't mean I don't like many of styles in houses. Actually I love all. And renovations, too. They cause my creativity.
I just feel that a window without -or with- a tied curtain, letting the sun jumping in, gives portions of life to people.
Make it a picture. You keep a yard, a veranda or just a corner out of your home. It would be your own personal warm nest.
Add beautiful details:
on the wall edges using beach stones
color on some surfaces
plants with wide leaves to ''dress up'' the area
summery warm sun-kissed colors on textiles
natural materials
What if you live in a city?
You now whisper that you aren't a rebel iguana resting on the sand or onto a hill of fresh leaves. You live in a minimal modern stylish house in the center of the city.
You come and go.
Strangers live so close to you and you avoid to bother in any way.
But you're lucky... Your living room's luminous and open.
Please do me a favor.
Run there and open the glass balcony door.
Widely.
Completely.
Put roller blinds.
Pull them up.
Leave them as this.
And rest.
Breath and feel the air slipping in your lungs.
Out space visits you formally.
Keep the feet naked and walk on the tender floor.
Green makes its magic, too.
Add plants, pots and low armchairs.
Isn't it amazing?
Never tell ''no'' to something which adds calmness and quietness.
Good mood is our right.
We all deserve it.
Decoration did it this time, again! It's an art that helps to our life's upgrade.
